Week of 12/7-12/11 Journal

This is a sketch I did, there are a few things I noticed I need to change to make them look better, but just practicing helps!
This is a picture I took at Golden Gate Park. They have the most beautiful botanic gardens and it was just an amazing place to hang out.

This is a picture I took. It is part of a chalk mural, I thought it was inspiring because it was fun.

Week of 11/30-12/4 Journal

This is a picture I took at the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA. It is a crazy place to visit. The picture was taken looking out a window, it is very clear and you are able to see the outside very well.
This is another picture I took. It had an isolated, lonely feeling to it with all the white space in the picture.

This is a sketch I did practicing 2 point perspective. I don't know what I did when I was drawing the couch but it came out kind of strange, I guess that's something I will have to work on!

This is a picture I took using a different angle. I thought the angle gave it an interesting abstract look.
This is a picture I took. I was inspired because it has several different textures to it. It reminded me of a japanese rock garden.

This is a piece I did using watercolor pencils and paints. I really like the watercolor pencils because they give you the control of a pencil and you can just take a brush with water to it and it gives it a whole new effect.

Week of 10/26-10/30 Journal

This is a sketch I did. I basically started out with the idea of a girl and it just went from there by adding the peacock and the feathers to her hair. It kind of reminds me of art nouveau which is my favorite art movement and is also very inspirational to me.

Week of 10/19-10/23 Journal

This is a sketch of my own. I know it's not very good but I was experimenting with line weight and shading. So basically it's just a simple sketch.
This is a picture of my own. I changed the contrast because I really like the way adjusting the contrast can give it a whole new feeling. This picture kind of reminds me of the film noir era.

This is a picture of my own. Again I played with the contrast and added some filter effects to give it a surreal look.

Week of 10/12-10/16

This is a sketch of my own. I was inspired by the movement and curves of the human body.
These two pictures are from photographer Bill Brandt. His work is very inspirational to me because he is able to create abstract photos using the human body. Sometimes they are so abstract you can't even tell that it is part of the body. He is also able to blend the human body into the natural surroundings very well. He also uses alot of contrast in his work which give his photos a dramatic, dark look which also inspires me.

Week of 10/5-10/9 Journal

This is a picture I took on a night tour of Alcatraz. I like the form of the tower against the coldness of the sky.
This is a picture I took at the Sutro baths in San Francisco. It was an amazing place to see especially because it is so old and may not be around for people to see much longer.

This is a sketch I did, I guess I'm starting to feel the Halloween spirit!

Red & Blue Chair

This is my red and blue chair model. I thought it was hard working in sketch up. The tools were a bit odd and hard to use.

Week of 9/7-9/11 Journal

This is a picture I took and edited by giving it a higher contrast. I also added a slight glow to it to give it that dark magical feeling that I am inspired by.

This is an photograph I took and edited by changing the contrast. I am really inspired by photographer Bill Brandt's work and he uses high contrast in his photographs to convey a sense of darkness to them.

This is a sketch I did using water color pencils. I am really inspired by the color and abstraction in this sketch. I also enjoy working with water color pencils because it can give the piece a whole new effect by brushing it with water.
