Week of 9/7-9/11 Journal

This is a picture I took and edited by giving it a higher contrast. I also added a slight glow to it to give it that dark magical feeling that I am inspired by.

This is an photograph I took and edited by changing the contrast. I am really inspired by photographer Bill Brandt's work and he uses high contrast in his photographs to convey a sense of darkness to them.

This is a sketch I did using water color pencils. I am really inspired by the color and abstraction in this sketch. I also enjoy working with water color pencils because it can give the piece a whole new effect by brushing it with water.

Week of 8/31-9/4 Journal

I did this sketch of a woman because the human figure can be very inspiring. We are all created different and those differences are what make us unique and beautiful. I did shading on this sketch to show how light can create dramatic shadows.

This is a picture I took of a lonely quiet highway. It is inspiring to me because I have had some of my best creative thoughts while driving. Road trips give time to think and contemplate anything that may be on your mind. It can be a time of reflection and revelation.

This is a picture I took while at the Muir Woods near San Francisco. This place was so close to the city but still so far. I thought is was very peaceful and it provided a nice escape from the busy city. It would be a perfect place for inspiration because it was so quiet and seemed secluded even though the city was not far away.
